Doxie Land is Digging Out

Welcome to this week's edition of the Doxie Blog! This week, the big story is all this snow. Our entire region was blanketed with possibly the worst blizzard on record. And we all know how many of our doxies feel about any kind of precipitation! Here are some pictures submitted by our friends on Facebook:

I still might not go out.

I love the snow! Weeeeee!

Winter can be a dangerous time for animals. It's not just the cold that can be hazardous. Our friends at NorthStar VETS have some great tips that everyone should keep in the back of their minds as the temperatures drop. Please check out this video on how to keep your pets safe in the winter.

We have a Red Paw update on Lily, our critical doxie who came to us shutting down from diabetic shock. The Red Paw remains in effect for this little girl. So adorable and so critically ill. Her condition is improving. She is now receiving injectable insulin and that is a key step. She has also started to eat! We are hoping to have her home early this week. Please send her your prayers, positive vibes and support. We cannot do what we do without you.

You can read Lily's full story on her YouCaring site. Lily has not yet reached her fundraising goal. Would you like to join Team Lily? Follow the link below to show your support. No amount is too small! Will you skip your latte this week so Lily can improve? Donate today!

We have a FANTASTIC update from Holly! Holly is our sweet little girl who was brought to DRBC by our friends at Pilots N Paws. She was brought to DRBC because of our ability to work with dachshunds with IVDD.

Here at DRBC, we do our best to spread the word that IVDD is not a death sentence. Holly is proof of that, and this week we are THRILLED to report that no only is she standing, but she has taken her first steps. We are so happy with her progress. Congratulations Holly!

We've also have a Purple Paw update from Devi. Devi is the pup who was pulled from a high kill shelter. He had quite a scare the other week when he was having trouble breathing. Luckily, he is on the mend and his kennel cough has improved, thanks to your prayers and kind words of encouragement!

We are happy to report two Gold Paw updates this week. Pop is the bait dog who came to us skinny and covered in cuts and bruises. Now, he will be smothered in love for the rest of his life, and never be hurt again. Fenno is a sweet, little one who will now have all the attention he could ever ask for. Congratulations Pop and Fenno!

Well, that wraps up this week's edition of The Doxie Blog. For our friends who were affected by the big blizzard, we wish you warmth and safety as you dig out, and we all get back on our feet. We'll leave you with this Cutie of the Week as a reminder to stay indoors in your PJs unless you absolutely need to go outside.
