Trio is Searching for a Home

Welcome to this week's edition of The Doxie Blog! Things have mostly returned to normal since last weekend's epic snowstorm. This week, we're starting off with a special plea for our readers. Here at DRBC, normal means busy, and busy means more foster homes are desperately needed. The more homes we have, the more doxies we can save. If you can open your heart and your home, even only temporarily, please visit http://www.doxierescue.com/Foster_Application.html to complete an application today!

In this week's pupdates, the Red Paw is up for Percy, Anna, and Wendy, a sweet and friendly trio who are searching for a generous home who can take them in together.
Picture

Their Mom had to give them up as her battle with cancer reaches a sad end. These 3 cuties have been in foster care and we have received a request to move them to a new home. They are wonderful and loving but will have to be split at the end of February if we can find no other options. If you, or someone you know would be interested in giving this family a home, please reach out to us today by completing a Foster Application or consider Adoption! We would really like to see this little family stay together.

For our next pupdate, we are happy to announce that Lily, our diabetic doxie, has been moved to Purple Paw!

Purple Paw Update - Lily

It was a close call for Lily. She had a long and expensive hospitalization, but thankfully, she responded well to the treatment and she is now home and resting with her foster family.

Did you miss out on being part of Team Lily? No worries. We are only half of the way to her fundraising goal. Please like, share with friends, and donate. It would mean the world to her. Thanks Gang!

We are also happy to announce a Green Paw update for Grendy (pictured at left). After months of conservative treatment for heartworm disease, he has gotten the thumbs up on his health! He is still working on his diet, but has been cleared of all heartworm! Please wish Grendy well as he begins his search for a diet conscious furever home! Yeah Grendy!

Good luck Grendy!

The Blue Paw is up on our latest message from Joey and Jessie. The snows fell, the floods came and they watched it all from the comfort of their couch! Great to see you guys! Thanks for checking in from your furever home!

This weekend, we are busy working on pulling 2 doxies who lost their owner. Remember to follow our Facebook page for breaking news and developments on this story, which we will be bringing to you here on the blog next week.

Doxie Land is Digging Out

Welcome to this week's edition of the Doxie Blog! This week, the big story is all this snow. Our entire region was blanketed with possibly the worst blizzard on record. And we all know how many of our doxies feel about any kind of precipitation! Here are some pictures submitted by our friends on Facebook:

I still might not go out.

I love the snow! Weeeeee!

Winter can be a dangerous time for animals. It's not just the cold that can be hazardous. Our friends at NorthStar VETS have some great tips that everyone should keep in the back of their minds as the temperatures drop. Please check out this video on how to keep your pets safe in the winter.

We have a Red Paw update on Lily, our critical doxie who came to us shutting down from diabetic shock. The Red Paw remains in effect for this little girl. So adorable and so critically ill. Her condition is improving. She is now receiving injectable insulin and that is a key step. She has also started to eat! We are hoping to have her home early this week. Please send her your prayers, positive vibes and support. We cannot do what we do without you.

You can read Lily's full story on her YouCaring site. Lily has not yet reached her fundraising goal. Would you like to join Team Lily? Follow the link below to show your support. No amount is too small! Will you skip your latte this week so Lily can improve? Donate today!

We have a FANTASTIC update from Holly! Holly is our sweet little girl who was brought to DRBC by our friends at Pilots N Paws. She was brought to DRBC because of our ability to work with dachshunds with IVDD.
Picture

Here at DRBC, we do our best to spread the word that IVDD is not a death sentence. Holly is proof of that, and this week we are THRILLED to report that no only is she standing, but she has taken her first steps. We are so happy with her progress. Congratulations Holly!

We've also have a Purple Paw update from Devi. Devi is the pup who was pulled from a high kill shelter. He had quite a scare the other week when he was having trouble breathing. Luckily, he is on the mend and his kennel cough has improved, thanks to your prayers and kind words of encouragement!

We are happy to report two Gold Paw updates this week. Pop is the bait dog who came to us skinny and covered in cuts and bruises. Now, he will be smothered in love for the rest of his life, and never be hurt again. Fenno is a sweet, little one who will now have all the attention he could ever ask for. Congratulations Pop and Fenno!

A Busy Week for DRBC

Welcome to this week's edition of The Doxie Blog! We've had such a busy week that we haven't been as active on social media as usual. We started the week off with a crisis. Lily was dumped off to us in diabetic shock. We had to rush her to North Star Vets to get her stabilized. We will have more updates on her condition in this upcoming week.

Lily gets help.

We are also still looking for Jeffery. Jeffery went missing a little over a week ago in the Spring City, PA area. Please keep sharing little Jeffery's story, we really want to get him home!

Our other Red Paw is Molly. She is stuck in a holding pattern awaiting surgery. You may remember that this little girl was saved by DRBC not long ago after being kicked in the abdomen and experiencing a shattered femur and hip socket. Because the owners waited, swelling set in. Molly is now on strict crate rest and medication as we wait for the swelling to subside and the surgical field to be clear for potential repair. We are keeping this little girl as comfortable as we can and are hoping that the damage can be repaired in the short term.

We have a very special thank you to Fur Angels Blessing Blankets. Molly received a special gift from them to help her in her healing. The folks over at FABB made her a prayer blanket and also sent a rope toy to help her pass the time till surgery with something soft and warm. These folks have done this before and we are so appreciative.

Have you joined Team Molly? We are still short on the funds needed to correct her issues. We sure would appreciate your help Gang. Please like, share her story, and donate. We can't do it without you. Just follow the link below and make that difference. Every dollar is appreciated!

We have some GREAT news for you about Chico! Chico is the doxie who went down a few weeks ago with IVDD. With your support, he received medical care, his cart, and physical therapy. This has him standing and getting ready to take his first steps. We can see that he is just days away from taking that big step. Yeah Chico!
Chico is recovering from IVDD

This week we also have a Blue Paw Update from Stanley! Things weren't so good for him when he arrived at DRBC. Look at him now, celebrating his "gotcha" day!!!
Happy Gotcha Day!

We'll be returning to our regular posting activity on Facebook this week. Make sure to stay tuned for up to the minute updates on our social media pages.

Jeffery is Lost!

Welcome to this week's edition of the Doxie Blog! This week, we've been out in full force trying to find our little lost Jeffery, who went missing earlier this week in the Spring City, PA area. We received assistance from Video Drone and also got help from a tracking dog from Dogs Finding Dogs. The tracking dog strongly indicated that Jeffery is still in the area. We will be working diligently to bring Jeffery home.

Normally, we reserve fundraisers for medical pleas and you know we help so many. So that we do not divert medical dollars, we have established a fund to help bring Jeffery home. We are reaching out to ask for your support in this effort.  You need only look at your little one to understand how important this is to us. Please follow the link to donate. We also need volunteers to put up flyers and knock on doors. If you are near the Western Philadelphia suburbs, and would like to help, please email us atinfo@doxierescue.com and we will let you know how you can help!

Please visit https://www.youcaring.com/jeffery-the-missing-doxie-499571 to help support the efforts to locate Jeffery and bring him home.

Thanks for your support and let's bring Jeffery home!

We also have an update on Mollie, the abused doxie. Her hip was most probably shattered by a kick to the groin. She is home from the hospital and is on strict crate rest and medications for her pain. It will be a while before this little cutie walks again.

Ona separate bit of news, animal control is working the case! Mollie will get justice!! We are so happy for that, but wish she never had to suffer at all.

Can you help Mollie's Fund? We sure would appreciate it and so would she. Months of PT lie ahead of her. Thanks Gang!

This week we are asking for your prayers for Devi. Devi was rushed to NorthStar VETS last weekend and was having a great deal of trouble breathing. We suspected pneumonia or parvo. Good news; we dodged a big bullet as he has neither. A change in medication for his severe kennel cough and a script for some low sodium chicken soup has set him on the road to recovery! Please send Devi your get well wishes. You can do it Devi!

We are happy to announce 2 Gold Paw updates this week! Zeke found a forever home with DRBC alum Caesar! It won't be long before these 2 brothers are zooming all over the house and yard. Phinn also has gone to his forever home. Congratulations to both on starting their new lives!

As you can see, it is already another exciting year here at DRBC! we are hoping that some of you out there would like to step up and lend a hand. We have opening for fosters, schedulers, coordinators and event staff. Pay is made in karma points ;)

You may have noticed the big influx of doxies we have been posting lately. It is brutal out there and we are nearing capacity in our foster system. The demand for our help continues and we wnat to be there for every doxie we can, but we cannot do that without support. Today we are asking for your help to save them. This is not a financial plea, but one of your time, your love and your home. Do you have an extra hour here and there? Can you open your heart and your home for a little while to a doxie in need? We hope so. If you can see a way to squeezing in just one little one, or are interested in volunteering, please visit the link below and make that difference today! We hope you take a look and come join the team! Please help us get the word out!

Happy New Year!

Welcome to this week's edition of The Doxie Blog! The New Year is starting off busy as ever so let's jump right into it. We've been involved in a terrible case of abuse this week. Words fail us in cases like this. The work we undertake in rescue is never easy. And there is no easy way to say this, but Molly's pelvis is shattered.

The pictures we have attached are very graphic for a good reason; this is abuse. The bruising you see on her abdomen came from something moving up and under her belly and was done with such a great force; it shattered the top of Molly’s femur and destroyed the hip socket. Something like a very hard kick did this. The damage that was inflicted in seconds will take a great deal of time, effort and funding to correct.

We have also learned that Molly sat in pain for 5 days at the hands of her former owners in spite of DRBC’s offers of veterinary support. Molly is scheduled for corrective surgery. Acupuncture, laser therapy and water therapy will follow once the repaired hip has healed enough. Her recovery will take months. Often, you ask us what will happen to the person[s] that inflict the level of hurt Molly has had to endure and in this case we will be reaching out to get animal control and police involved. Molly deserves justice. Molly needs your support. Please help this story of unnecessary abuse go viral. Here is what you can do to make a measurable difference in this little one’s life.

1. Like, share and send Molly a message of love; she needs all of it. Many of you belong to doxie groups and have doxie friends. Please get the word out.

2. Donate. Mollie’s surgery and recovery is estimated at $7500 and she needs it so badly.

     b. PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr…
     c. NorthStar VETS: 609-259-8300
     d. Mail A Check DRBC, 181 Gilbert Drive, Morrisville, PA 19067

3. Get ready to voice your objections. We have not asked you to support a cause like this in 2 years, but we will not let this go. Your calls may be needed to help get this case the attention it deserves. Thank you Gang. We could not do what we do without your support. Together we will all help her.

In happier news, we have a Purple Paw update on Chico! Chico is our foundation IVDD doxie who thanks to your support recently received a cart. Well, it is paying off because this week Chico stood! It was just for a minute, but it was progress! Chico reminds us that IVDD recovery is possible, and gives hope to those working through recovery.

We also have a Blue Paw update on Ivy! Ivy was born only hours after her emaciated Mom was pulled from a crack house last Christmas Eve. Look at her now, all grown up and beautiful!

This week, we welcome Nathan, Zoe, Reilly and Devi to the DRBC family. Reilly is just a year old and still getting into some puppy mischief, but that's ok, here at DRBC we have lots of toys to keep an active puppy busy! We pulled Devi from one of the worst shelters in the country. Devi is having some respiratory complications and we hope to have an update on him shortly. Nathan and Zoe were also shelter pulls.

We are still in need of foster homes, so please, if you can find it in your heart to help, please fill out a foster application at http://www.doxierescue.com/Foster_Application.html

In loving memory of Ellie

Sadly, this week Ellie has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Ellie was 18 yrs old and contracted yet another bout of pneumonia. She told us her little body was tired and she peacefully drifted away held in our loving arms. Godspeed Ellie; know you went with so much love.
